# The newest 24 hours stay. Everything older clears itself out.

How much of your archive it keeps, and what it says when two broadcasts cannot be joined.

It keeps a day, not a hoard

## The newest 24 hours stay. Everything older clears itself out.

The window is a rolling one: as new broadcasts appear, old ones age out and are deleted, so the folder settles at a size you chose instead of growing forever. Anything you pin is exempt and stays regardless — the intro you are proud of, the charity stream, the one people keep asking about. Nothing currently on air is ever deleted out from under the stream.

- 24 hours by default, and you can set it higher or lower
- Pinned broadcasts are kept forever and still count toward the window
- The window refills itself on a schedule, every 12 hours by default
- A day of 1080p60 is roughly 65 GB — which is why the button says so first

For your IT team

- **Retention** — Rolling window, 24 h by default, plus unconditional pins; a folder size cap can be set on top
- **Schedule** — Re-list the channel and top the window up every 12 h by default, 24 h maximum
- **Listing and download** — yt-dlp, bundled and updatable from inside the app; cookies.txt supported for sub-only and members-only streams
- **Safety** — A file that is currently in the playing playlist is never deleted; it waits for the next rebuild

Library · what stays rebuilt every 12 h

Newest 24 hours kept and played

Pinned broadcasts kept regardless of age

Older than the window deleted automatically

Currently on air never deleted mid-stream

This day, grouped by format 3 left out, listed

1920 × 1080 · 60 fps 9 broadcasts

▶ largest group — this is what goes out

1280 × 720 · 30 fps 2 broadcasts

kept on disk, not in this loop

2560 × 1440 · 60 fps 1 broadcast

kept on disk, not in this loop

Nothing was deleted. The three still count toward the window and will air the moment they are the largest group.

Honest about the hard part

## When two broadcasts cannot be joined, it says so.

Broadcasts are stored exactly as they were downloaded, which saves you hours of converting every file — but it means a day that mixes resolutions cannot be played out as one continuous stream. Rather than fall over unattended at three in the morning, the app checks every file when it arrives, groups the day by format, puts the largest group on air and lists the leftovers with the reason they were left out. They stay on your disk. Nothing is quietly thrown away, and nothing breaks while you are asleep.

- Every file is checked once, when it downloads
- The largest matching group goes on air
- Leftovers are listed with the reason, not silently dropped
- New content joins at the next loop wrap, so the brief reconnect lands at a natural break

For your IT team

- **Playout** — One long-lived ffmpeg process reading a concat playlist with -re -stream\_loop -1, re-encoding live
- **Why grouping** — The concat demuxer cannot cross a resolution or codec change, and files are deliberately kept as downloaded rather than normalised
- **Default encode** — 1920×1080 at 60 fps, 6000 kbit video / 160 kbit audio, 2 s keyframes
- **Playlist changes** — Applying a new playlist restarts the encoder, which viewers see as a brief reconnect, so by default it waits for the loop seam; a setting applies it at once instead
- **Resilience** — Reconnect with backoff on a dropped connection; a power-save blocker is held for the duration of a broadcast
