While you are asleep ## The four things it does without being asked. ### Nothing else to install The downloader ships with the app and the encoder installs itself on first run. There is no separate setup, no PATH to configure and no server to rent. ### Tops itself up Every twelve hours it re-checks the channel, queues what is new and clears what has aged out. You press the download button once, at the start. ### Your stream keys stay yours One per destination, kept out of the settings file, encrypted with your operating system's keychain where there is one (on a Linux desktop without a keyring it is stored plainly, and the app says so), and redacted from anything on its way to a log or the screen. ### Updates itself Including the downloader, which is the part that breaks whenever Twitch or YouTube changes its player. There is a button for that, and the update outranks the bundled copy. It runs on your computer, which is the trade: nothing to rent monthly, and equally the stream stops if the machine sleeps, shuts down or loses its connection. It holds the machine awake while it is live and reconnects by itself when a line drops — but it cannot outlive the computer it runs on.
