## When Privatta is the better tool

When the file matters more than the convenience of a link.

- The file must not be stored by a third party: client records, contracts, unreleased footage, drawings under NDA.
- The file is very large. Privatta streams it straight to disk, so there is no plan limit to run into.
- Both machines are on the same office network, including one with no internet connection at all.
- You want to decide who takes what. An internet transfer starts only against a one-time key you handed out, and nothing can ever be pushed onto your machine.
- You send to the same people every week. Saved devices and per-file permissions mean no fresh link each time.

## When WeTransfer is the better tool

Saying so is the point of this page.

- The other person cannot or will not install anything. WeTransfer needs only a browser; Privatta runs on both ends.
- You cannot stay online until they have downloaded it. Privatta sends from your machine, so it has to be running while they take the file.
- You are sending one file to a crowd of people you do not know. A link is simpler.
- Either of you is on a platform Privatta does not support. It runs on Windows (Linux to follow), with an Android app for the receiving side.

## What it costs

The free version of Privatta needs no account and no card. It covers transfers on your own network, up to ten a day, for personal use. Sending over the internet needs Privatta Pro: €19 a month for two seats and €10 for each extra seat — and the free version includes all of Pro for its first 14 days. Pro also brings user groups and virtual folders; Enterprise adds an access log that cannot be quietly edited.
