## The position Privatta holds alone

The market organises around two axes. On one axis: how private is the transfer? Cloud services score poorly; P2P tools score well. On the other axis: how much access governance does it provide? P2P tools score poorly; MFT platforms score well. Almost every product is strong on one axis and weak on the other.

Privatta is the only product that sits at the intersection of both, and it adds a third property most of the field doesn't even model: transfers are pull-only. The recipient always requests a specific file; nothing arrives unsolicited, and no other product in this table makes the same protocol-level guarantee against unwanted delivery. On top of that, the access model is governed: named users, per-file permissions, virtual folders, a single-use connection key for every internet transfer (backed by an open-source, stateless, self-hostable relay), user groups, an optional per-user MAC check on the LAN, and — on the Enterprise tier — an immutable local audit log of every access attempt.

The second unique property is the deployment model. Every competitor that offers enterprise governance — MFT platforms, cloud enterprise tiers — requires server infrastructure. Every competitor that avoids server infrastructure — LocalSend, Magic Wormhole, Syncthing — lacks governance. Privatta arrives as a desktop application: one installer, no file server to provision, and it works fully offline on a LAN from the first minute, with Pro and Enterprise licenses activatable with zero internet connection via a signed, machine-bound license file. The only supporting infrastructure for internet transfers is a small, open-source relay — self-hostable — that introduces two peers over WebRTC and forgets it ever happened.

- Only product in this comparison enforcing pull-only transfer — recipients request, senders can't push
- Only product combining true P2P (no cloud copy) with named-user ACL, MAC/key-based device trust, and an immutable Enterprise audit log
- No file server infrastructure required — installs as a desktop app; the optional relay is open source, stateless, and self-hostable
- Three transport modes in one install: LAN, internet P2P, and fully offline / air-gapped — including offline license activation
- Pro adds internet transfers, per-user access control, user groups and virtual folders; Enterprise adds an immutable audit trail, and no edition removes a capability from the one below
- The same binary satisfies a solo professional (Pro) and an organisation-wide deployment (Enterprise)

## Ready to see a direct transfer?

The fastest way to see the difference between a file that travels directly and one that stops in the middle is to send one. The free build does that today — no account, no card.
