# Your data, in a file you can carry.

Hourly, daily or weekly backups sealed with a passphrase you choose, a full database export and import, single-collection archives and settings you can move.

## Backups and data, feature by feature

Each comes with a small drawing of how it works. They are diagrams, not screenshots; numbers in them are examples.

- ### Backups on a timetable

  Every hour, day or week, keeping as many archives as you set, in a folder you choose. A laptop that was asleep catches up when it wakes.

  Timeline (Every day, keeping the last few (example)): Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
- ### Sealed with your passphrase

  Each archive is encrypted with a passphrase you hold, so it opens on a replacement machine, not only on the one that made it.

  Diagram: Backup → Your passphrase → Opens on any PC.
- ### Everything, or more

  Optionally include collections and extra databases.

  Diagram: Chats and settings and Collections and Extra stores come together as Archive.
- ### Back up now

  Run one by hand; see when the last one ran, when the next is due, and whether one failed.

  Diagram: Back up now → Archive → Last / next shown.
- ### The whole database, moved

  Export or import chats, settings, the knowledge base, its cache and its map as one archive. An import that fails rolls back.

  Diagram: Export .zip → New PC → Import, safe rollback.
- ### One collection at a time

  A single collection exports and imports on its own.

  Diagram: Collection → .zip → Another PC.
- ### Settings you can move

  Export your configuration and import it on another desk.

  Diagram: Settings → Export → Other desk.
- ### Rules for IT

  On a managed desk, the administrator can require encrypted backups and decide who may export or import.

  Diagram: Example policy: encrypted backups required, data export not allowed.
